3/17/2023 0 Comments Magic lantern canon 5d mark 3You either need new MFT glass or an adapter. Most have been fixed via update or it seems not all cameras have orbs issue or black dot. The BMPCC on the other has many many quirks. And if you already have it and heavily invested in the Canon ecosystem, why not just download some free software (ML) and shoot amazing footage? Almost seems like a no-brainer there. And with really good lighting, I've seen stuff from the 5D (with h.264 codec) look as if it was shot on RED. Full frame, canon EF mount.easy! But it's $3,500. What is worth more to you as a filmmaker/videographer? The Canon 5D is tried and true. I'm sure others will chime in soon but I think it comes down to personal preference. It looks remarkable, yet it still looks like television. This was the best 5D Mk3 raw footage I've ever seen. Maybe because my eyes are spoiled after looking at all this glorious BMC footage, anything coming out of a Canon with the exception of the C cameras, looks like "video", unless the grade was extreme and well done. The 5D Mk3 RAW, to my eyes, even though the quality definitely exceeds H.264, still doesn't look very "filmic". The workflow with the pocket is a little better IMO. You can shoot some great stuff on both and both look fantastic. However, something like that is very subjective. That's not exactly what your original post stated.
